Abstract

Authors constructed experimental disks made of tooth ash and silicate cement, and evaluated the biocompatibility in vitro.
Balb/C mouse fibroblasts were cultured with experimental disks and observed the cell growth and adhesion after 3, 6, and 9 days.
The follwing results were obtained ;
1. Cell growth and adhesion around tooth ash disks increased remarkably with lapse of time.
2. Inhibition zone of cell growth around silicate cement disk was noted after 3 days and cytoplasmic shrinkage and degeneration of the fibroblasts were seen after 6 days.
